Governor Amosun rewards Sweeper and 4 others with free houses

Five public officers in Ogun State, including a street sweeper, were yesterday rewarded with free houses for their hard work and exemplary service by Governor Ibikunle Amosun. Amosun rewarded the beneficiaries during presentation of keys to successful applicants for the AAK Degun MITROS Estate, Laderin, Abeokuta.

The workers, who were rewarded, include Mrs. Folashade Adekoya, an officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE); Mr. Isiaka Sule, a staff of the Governor’s Office; Alhaji Adeshina Waheed and Pastor Wole Dosunmu, both of the Ministry of Information and Strategy. Each of them was presented with keys to two-bedroom apartments at the new estate, which comprises of 160 housing units.

The governor, who did not disclose the name of the lucky street sweeper, said he had been monitoring her and the traffic officer for quite a long time even without knowing their names.

Explaining why the public servants were picked out for the reward, Amosun stated that it was simply to show that hard work and dedication to duty pays. He explained that in the case of Adekoya, she was picked for the reward because of her selfless and untiring service as a traffic officer.

“Come rain, come sunshine, she is always at her duty post working and she never knew that I was noticing her,” the governor said.

In his keynote address, Amosun said the estate was named after the first Head of Service in the state, explaining that the allocation was in fulfillment of his promise to public servants as it was also to promote his administration’s affordable housing scheme.

Amosun said: “Let me also use this opportunity to call on genuine individuals and corporate organizations to partner with us.”
